Our Commitment

At MRDC, we are committed to investing today’s resources for tomorrow’s generation. Through our various programs and partnerships, we strive to create sustainable development opportunities that empower communities, drive economic growth, and ensure environmental sustainability across Papua New Guinea.

Community Impact

MRDC is committed to enhancing the well-being of Papua New Guinean communities. Over the past five years, we have invested K50 million in vital projects, including:

  • Improving access to education: Constructing schools, libraries, and staff housing to support quality education.
  • Strengthening healthcare: Developing essential infrastructure such as water supply systems and health clinics.
  • Boosting local economies: Establishing community markets and halls to support local businesses and livelihoods.

In 2023 alone, MRDC allocated K30 million to continue these efforts, benefiting communities in the Southern Highlands, Hela, Gulf, Western, and Central provinces.

Strategic Partnerships for Lasting Change

MRDC actively collaborates with key partners to maximize its impact. A significant partnership with the Santos Foundation focuses on:

  • Upgrading educational facilities in the Nipa-Kutubu District of Southern Highlands Province.
  • Empowering youth: Enhancing security and justice through youth engagement programs and creating sustainable employment and agricultural opportunities.
  • Improving community infrastructure: Supporting vital projects like water, sanitation, and hygiene initiatives.

Supporting Sustainable Agriculture

Recognizing the vital role of agriculture in Papua New Guinea’s economy, MRDC proudly sponsored World Coconut Day in 2024. This event, themed “Coconut for a Circular Economy: Building Partnerships for Maximum Value,” provided a platform for local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to showcase their innovative coconut-based products.
