Community Partnerships
The Mineral Resources Development Company (MRDC) is dedicated to fostering sustainable development in Papua New Guinea through strategic community partnerships. By collaborating with various organizations and investing in essential infrastructure, MRDC aims to enhance the quality of life for communities across the nation.
Key Initiatives
- Educational Infrastructure: In November 2024, Gas Resources Hides No.4 Limited, a subsidiary of MRDC, inaugurated a new double-story classroom at Mananda Junior High School in Komo District, Hela Province. This facility is the first project for the PDL7 landowner beneficiaries and reflects MRDC’s commitment to improving educational opportunities in the region.
- Healthcare Support: In November 2024, Petroleum Resources Kutubu (PRK), managed by MRDC, donated 20 mattresses and 20 fans to Kerema General Hospital to enhance patient well-being. This contribution underscores MRDC’s dedication to supporting healthcare services in Gulf Province.
- Agricultural Development: In August 2024, MRDC and its subsidiary, Gas Resources Pipeline Ltd, initiated the Omati Cocoa Project in Kikori, Gulf Province. This project aims to transform the area into a major cocoa-producing hub, promoting economic growth and sustainable agriculture.
- Community Infrastructure: In March 2019, MRDC donated tractors to women’s groups at the PNG LNG plant site to support agricultural activities. This initiative is part of MRDC’s broader efforts to empower communities and promote sustainable livelihoods.
Through these and other initiatives, MRDC exemplifies its role as a steward of Papua New Guinea’s resources, investing in projects that yield sustainable benefits for current and future generations.
